Hyundai is increasing the pressure, Tata is bringing the CNG version

The competition in the micro SUV (SUV) car market in India is increasing. Hyundai Exter has made its debut as a new model in the segment. Apart from petrol, the car is also available in CNG fuel. As a result, Tata Punch, one of the most popular micro SUVs of Tata Motors, has faced a challenge. Because it hasn't got CNG version yet. This time, the domestic organization has started a struggle. Tata Punch CNG is expected to hit the market in August this year. It will be Tata's first CNG SUV and the fourth model in the CNG car portfolio.

Tata Punch CNG is launching next month

The car will come with Tata's latest dual cylinder CNG technology. Which is also seen in the recently launched Altroz ​​CNG. It has two 30 liter CNG cylinders placed under the boot floor. As a result, the cargo space is much more available. The Punch CNG will be powered by the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine as before. With the CNG kit, the engine gets 72 bhp of power and 102 Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Punch CNG will be visually similar to its ICE model. The only difference is that it will have i-CNG badging on the rear door. Again, no changes will be noticed in the interior layout and features. Only the top-end Creative trim will offer some exclusive features. Like – a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, auto climate control, rear seat center armrest, cooled glovebox, power folding wing mirrors, LED DRLs, auto headlamps and wipers and projector headlamps.

Tata will offer the IRA connected car technology as an optional feature on all variants of the car except the XZ+ trim. It includes voice assistance, remote vehicle monitoring, live vehicle diagnostics, security alerts, etc. Besides, the micro SUV model has a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Autoconnectivity, keyless entry and go, driver seat height adjustment, cruise control, rear view camera, etc.
